Spring Grass

I am just home from a long walk.

The house is cool and dark,

like most Texas cottages in the summer.

(even though it is not summer yet)

I walked four miles today.

It does not seem far enough.

Four miles in 53.10.

I used my new Pathfinder watch,

to keep track of the time.

I saw a wild rabbit when I was almost at my half way mark.

He had been hit by a car and was lying in beautiful green spring grass.

His little chest was moving, he did not have long to live.

I did not touch him as he looked so beautiful in the grass.

Funny, I kept from crying till now.

You know, alot can happen in 53 min and 10 seconds.
