He Included Us

Photo: My Uncle 1972 Wilmington Delaware

Uncle Bruce came into my life when I needed him very much. He stayed by my side until his death March 10th, 2010.

He was a support when I was crumbling. He was an ear when I needed to talk and most of all, he was a heart filled with love the entire time that he was in my life.

I did not know Uncle Bruce until about 1997, I had met him a few times while growing up.(he and his brother, my father were estranged) When Bruce discovered what was happening in my life, he immediately was there. No hesitation, no arguments or family drama...he was just there. It was very much welcomed and quite unexpected.

He became part of the family. Lauren and Jamison called him "The Uncle"...and he loved us as much as we loved him. There are so many things I could share about him, but maybe another time. One thing...he introduced me to South Carolina. He had a home in Murrells Inlet and Larry and I would go visit him there a couple of times a year. Here is a photo I took during a visit long ago.(Garden City, SC)

The Uncle passed away on this day, March 10, 2010. Larry and I were in Pennsylvania on that day with him and my cousins.  It meant the world that he became part of our family and that he included us in his family.

The Uncle earned his wings 13 years ago today. I miss him so much.

Love you beyond the moon.

Me
