Just Imagine....Whoopie As God

It was two years ago when I started feeling different. I think I went to 4 Dr's trying to discover what was wrong. It was my para thyroid. Good Grief, what was that? During this time, each and every Dr told me to get a colonoscopy. I refused. No symptoms I would say. They let me get away with it.

A few months later I was diagnosed with breast cancer. That was a rough journey. The surgery was not as difficult as the treatment was. But it was all "doable".

Two weeks after my surgery to remove the tumor and 5 lymph-nodes, Larry took me to the beach cottage to rest and recover. Although I could not swim at all, I got my feet wet, saw old friends, Rev Westly blessed our marriage on our anniversary, my cousins were visiting on the North Shore and we met them for breakfast and had a huge visit. And we ate Shave Ice. I blogged about every shave ice stand on the island of Kaua'i.

Days slid past in the nicest way. I slept a lot, read, took great drugs and listened to the ocean as I lay in our bedroom. In the afternoons, after my nap and before dinner, Larry would bring my tablet in and stretch out with me. Picking easy fun movies to watch, so we could laugh and feel light hearted.

One afternoon, I chose this movie. A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN. Adorable Kate Hudson...living a perfect life, with great friends and an interesting faith.

Five Minutes into it, Larry said, lets not watch this movie. Ten minutes later, he almost demanded that we turn it off. He was just protecting me and we watched it all. In the movie, Kate's character is diagnosed with colon cancer after a colonoscopy. I will not spoil the movie for you, but I remember each moment of it. I laughed and cried. Whoopie Goldberg plays the character of God. I would like God to be like Whoopie. She is wonderful.

I remember each and every scene and outcome. It has stayed with me for 1 1/2 years now and I have never watched it again. But I will.

From the time I watched the movie, fast forward to my last Oncologist appointment. {Sept 2013} I am doing good, but Dr. S said something about a colonoscopy.
I said: That sounds like a giant hint.
D.r S Said: It was.
I looked at his face.
I said: before my next appointment {in March} with you, I will have had it taken care of.
 He just laughed. I don't think that he believed me.

Well. Today is the day. I will post this before I leave for the hospital.
To be honest, I dread this with all of my heart. It is not the prep,{that is major gross} or the procedure itself {that is major gross} I dread the results. Please think good thoughts for me when you read this...It would mean the world.

When this is finished and my outcome is good, I think that I will make a huge bowl of popcorn and watch A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN. Just imagine. Whoopie Goldberg as God.

Have a happy Thursday.
Love you beyond the moon....

NONPAREILS
or
SNOWCAPS
~~~
Today,
I shall escape the day, sit in a dark, cool theater
and watch
The Soloist.
I will go early.
Play with my blackberry as I wait for trailers,
and when the movie starts,
I will buy popcorn and snow caps.
Snow caps
SHOUT
Its Movie Time!
What are your favorite movie snacks,
and what is your ritual
as you prepare for a movie?
Movies are better than roller coasters.
I get to sit still
and let the movie, move all around me.
Ok, rituals.....
fess up.
Love you.
LEFTOVERS
"Leftovers in their less visible form are called memories.
Stored in the refrigerator of the mind,
and the cupboard of the heart."
~Thomas Fuller~
***
It is a sunny cold Thursday Morning.
Larry has gone to Temple, Texas for meetings.
I have been ill most of the week,
my worst day being Tuesday.
I lay in bed being miserable,
watching a movie titled,
HANGING UP
It is a 2000 movie about three sisters.
Please know that I am smiling.
While watching the movie,
being entertained as only Meg Ryan can entertain,
I raided the fridge.
The left overs I chose were perfection
and with a glass of tea,
I realized something.
The leftovers of my heart
and the
leftovers from the fridge,
made me quite happy.
Don't you love when that happens?
You lean back, sigh
and
know that life is truly wonderful. Have the happiest day that you can imagine.
Love you.
Four Christmases and Tea
Well.....
Burn After Reading (the movie)was gone, gone, gone!
so instead,
I scarfed Larry up and took him to see
FOUR CHRISTMASES.
We had popcorn, and a soda,
and we laughed.
I always have a difficult time at Christmas,
my secret to a happy holiday is having many
"distractions"
Wonderful friends and colorful distractions!
My tea is gone....
time to get busy.
Love you lots.
No Reservations
It is a quiet Monday.
The house is still.
Larry has meetings all day and I find myself
at odds, trying to decide what chores to do first.
Libby is resting.
Her leg gave her much trouble this weekend,
and sleep was at a minimum.
Her surgery is scheduled for December.
It is a white Monday....
Void of inspiration,
energy
and sound.
I think that I shall slip in the CD from the movie
NO RESERVATIONS...
have you heard it?
Take a deep breath....
Sourire pour moi ?
Love you.
