Franklin Armstrong is a fictional character in the comic strip Peanuts, created by Charles M. Schulz. Introduced on July 31, 1968, Franklin was the first black character in the strip. He goes to school with Peppermint Patty and Marcie. In his first appearance, he met Charlie Brown when they were both at the beach.
I LOVE Franklin. He is a topiary at the Dallas Arboretum this October. I remember when he was introduced to the Charlie Brown Family in 1968. I would sit next to mother, watching the TV as she smoked one cigarette after another. Life then was very different as there was a ease to our days.
All of the Charlie Brown characters are at the Arboretum...in topiary form and they are awesome. Do you think that I can drag Larry out there again before they go away? Fingers crossed!
It is getting to be the busy time of year. So many holidays, events, personal projects to finish before life gets to busy and am trying to get things finished up...I have been very slow with projects this year.
