A Mighty Pecan Tree

This is our home.
The mighty pecan tree is about 200-250 years old.
People knock on the door and ask if they can gather pecans.
I say, of course. {I buy my pecans at Costco.}
***
Lauren has always loved this tree.
As an adult she still asked for a "baby" from this tree.
Until the past year, we never paid attention to the "babies"...
{critters take the pecans and bury them and in the spring forgotten pecans spring up as babies}
Then Larry found a baby in the mail box and planted it in an old pot.
he did not give it much hope...but it lived!
The tree is six months old here.
Since it thrived, he wanted to transplant it into something
 larger so he would not have to dig it up again over the next two years.
He bought something that when
Lauren gets it, she can just break the clay to plant it
 and not damage the roots.
Thus: A nice big terra-cotta pot did the trick.
Then the operation began and went very well.
Larry did hit roots, but everything seems fine.

The little tree is planted and sits between two new rose plants.
This picture was taken three weeks ago
and all is well.
Libby supervised the entire process.

I have to admit that there is something basic and good about getting your hands dirty and planting things that will be part of the future.
I am ordering 100 daffodils this afternoon.
Maybe Libby will supervise that planting too?
Have a happy sunny day.
Love you.
