Remembering Garfield
"If you hold a cat by the tail,
you can learn things you cannot learn any other way."

Garfield taught us many things.
He taught me that he and I could exist together, because Larry loved us both.
He taught Libby & Ajax that he was the BOSS.
He taught me that time is a relative term for all of us.
He taught me about cats, dogs and honor.
I remember last winter when it was so cold outside.
I refused to let him in the house, because of Libby.
But I got the old crate out, and lined it with old blankets and covered the outside of it with plastic.
Around midnight that night, I peeked out the window
and
Garfield was cuddling outside the crate door.
He was letting a black and white cat sleep in the little warm crate that night.
Garf is gone now,
and it is time to say good bye.
The last time I saw him he looked soggy and would not look me in the eye.
But I will always remember him with his ear torn,
a slight limp in his left leg,
and eyes that twinkled when he knew he was boss.
I will miss you Garf, and I will miss how happy you made Larry.
Love you Garf,
Me
