*NOTE: Friends and regular readers. This is known as a positive blog. Today will will be taking on a different description, just for one blog.
Dear Kenny,
Hi, how are you? I know that you have been busy with the restaurants, because Larry and I have missed you. We hope that all is well.
It has been a busy day so I will get on with my story.
Today, Larry saved 3 lives. He has the type of blood that is universal, and they took one pint of whole blood from him today during donation.(he donates every 60 days) This process leaves him weak and ill, but well worth the discomfort. He left Carter Blood Care saying, Kenny's Burgers for dinner tonight. I smiled knowing that him eating a big old burger tonight will keep him from passing out tomorrow. Not to mention how much we love the "Joint."
We arrived at the restaurant before 5:30. It was busy inside and it added a wonderful positive energy to our afternoon. The hostess told me the wait was about 20, 25 minute and what is our name? I smiled, we had waited all day for a KENNY'S BURGER.
We stood by the wall, Another couple came in, then larger groups started coming in. We all wanted a burger! The people before us were soon seated of course, but then it happened. The larger groups that came in AFTER us ( I counted 3 of them) were seated. I looked at Larry. He was sinking fast. 30 minutes standing against the wall was taking a toll. I told him, one more group seated, and I will go and ask the hostess about it.
One more group was seated. EEEK. I hate the hostess confrontation. There is nothing worse than a 18 year old acting like she is an undiscovered princess working beneath her "lot" in life. I Said, with a weak smile, Hi, I am Robin Tolbert and we have been waiting for 30 minutes now. I could not help but notice other people being seated before us. Do you know what she said to me? (With Larry being in the business a long time and with my passion for restaurants and eating out this had NEVER happened to us before) She said, (and I quote) "We are seating all of the larger groups first tonight." What? No, I really did not hear that, did I? The other couple waiting near us came over also and asked the hostess why the groups were being seated. It is then when Chelsea, the manager joined the discussion.
Larry was tired and sick, Chelsea was trying to clean up the mess that Miss Hostess created. To late. The restaurant was busy, and that is a GOOD thing. We love knowing that someone who we care so much about is having success in a difficult industry. But when success brings them to seat and turn over only large tables during a busy evening, that is when we stop eating there.
In an industry that is based on service and a business decides to serve only a certain clientele, is not a good thing. There are to many other wonderful places in Dallas to eat.
We left Kenny's Burger Joint and headed home, passing a FIVE GUYS BURGER on the way. From the time we entered the door, to the time we were eating our burgers was 7 min.
Larry had color in his face again, and I brought him home.
Kenny, you are the nicest chef I know. Your gentle spirit is amazing and shows in your food. You give great hugs and look me in the eye when you talk to me. Your kindness is only surpassed by your heart. Please notice, "heART"....
Good Luck Kenny.
Always,
Robin & Larry Tolbert
