January Root Canal

The past few days I have been reading a lot of Blogs. My favorite blogs, by people who I admire. It was like having a root canal. Why is it, this time of year, everyone wants to organize their closet. Lose weight. Quit smoking. Set a personal goal. Be a better person. You know what I am getting at. We all listen to this foolishness, and within 3 weeks, all will be forgotten.

The young Mother who wants to organize her kitchen, will soon post a photo of her son on a dirty/cluttered kitchen counter. The dieter will be scarfing donuts into his mouth. A proclaimed non-smoker can be seen puffing away, 30 feet from the mall entrance.

Why do we do it? The silly notion that January is a special time to make a change....and with a relapse and not fulfilling our passion, we feel somewhat lesser, and depressed.

This morning, I grabbed my camera and walked around the house. Am I wrong? Should I be cleaning, organizing, dieting, painting more and have a list of ten personal goals for this new year?

   No.

Any day is a good day to become better. Today, or any other day of the year. Make your goal when you feel best about it. The chances are you will have a better outcome.

Our house was built in 1967
These old cabinet doors hide alot of junk.

The fridge is a clutter of maps, magnets photos
and my personal favorite,
a weather station from Brookstone!
(the champagne bottle with a gold bow... is from the night when I learned
that I will become a grandmother this summer)

Here is evidence of one of my worst kitchen habits.
Bananas.
I love them
I eat them.
I buy to many of them.
(Look how pretty they are!)
BUT
I cannot eat all of these.
They will get black soon...
and into the garbage they will go.

Larry Tolbert is
Drum roll please......

OCD MAN.
Here is his desk.
His office is here at the house till they finish
his brand new building in Dallas!
(he will not have to work from Temple, Texas ever again!)
OCD MAN is tidy all year long.
He never complains about me,
or how messy I am.
How wonderful is it to accept yourself,
and the ones you love,
just as they are?

Life is an amazing adventure....
make changes when they are best for you,
not because Jenny Craig says to.....
I love you!
Me.

Today's blog was so insightful. Thanks.
You should try the green bags from the grocery store. They do save bananas. They are called "Debbie Myer Green Bags."
