SECRET PASSION
Macarons!
.....a few years ago, I had my first macaron. It was much different that the gooey coconut cookies that my Mother ate. It was two cookies put together with a filling of sweet icing. The macaron is a work of art. I fell in love at first bite and since then I have had an undying passion to eat them, make them and to photograph them.
They can be sweet or savory, and yes. My vote is SWEET all the way! Over a year ago I made a batch of chocolate macarons, they were good but not the art that I was expecting. They were not exactly like the macaroons I eat in France. Then, while on holiday a year ago I found the two books pictured above. They are written in French, and the measurements are much different than the system that we use here in the states. I loved how the pages felt and the photos are amazing. ART books, about food! I put them on the bookshelves.
Fall holiday is coming. I have been practicing my French, and found my macaron cookbooks on the bookshelves.
I feel like "Rocky" getting ready for a heavyweight fight. I am ready to make (try) macarons again. A pencil is stuck among the pages of my books and post it notes translate measurements and ingredients.......imagine me, a cookbook in each hand, running up the stairs of the Museum Of ART in Philadelphia.....Rocky theme music playing in the background......
I CAN DO IT!
I have a week to Tweak, Ponder and Pray........Then it will be, macaron day.
Perhaps everyday should be macaron day?
Love you beyond chocolat macaron, ( my personal favorite)
Me.
