Saturday in Rusk Texas

It is early. 6:16 am, and have been up for an hour or two. After I dress, and put some mascara on, Larry and I will be off. We shall pack a few bottles of water, and drive three hours to RUSK, Texas, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rusk,_Texas and deliver gifts to the parents of a brand new baby..... I have finished a smocked dress. I pleat the fabric, and usually design the smocking myself. This is a simple sun dress for an infant and is one of my favorite processes in the world. Mother taught me how to smock when I was 15.
A quilt is also finished. The afternoon sun was streaming in the room yesterday when I took this image. This quilt was so much fun to make. You cannot see in this photo, but the back of the quilt is brown poka-dot. I used organic batting (filler) and after washing the finished quilt, it had the most amazing softness. Organic batting is #1 on the list for the next quilt I make.
Wrapping gifts is so wonderful....pretty ribbon and shinny paper. How on earth does life get any better than that? ( oh yes, if you are the one GETTING the gift!)
The sun is up now, and Larry will be up soon. Libby will need outside and then off we go. East Texas is a wonder. You can almost hear Gus Mc Rae and Woodrow Call chatting about indians.....East Texas still has the "Old Texas" feel of Country and Heart.....
Have a happy day? Smile often and remember that true gifts are from the heart....
Love you.
Me.
