MEMORIAL DAY MEMORIES
~
It was a beautiful morning.
When the sun rose, I woke Larry,
asking if he would like to join me for a walk.
He said yes. As long as he was back at his desk by 8.
He had work to do.
We left around one to have lunch with Jami, Lars & Josh..
and on the way home, took a detour.
The VETERANS MEMORIAL WALL
was in Dallas.
So many names made me breathless.
So many families, friends and veterans
had come to remember on this day.
People touched the wall names in slow motion.
Small boys had dozens of questions for their Fathers and Grandfathers.
One gentleman who was one of the caretakers of the wall,
was walking along the wall talking on the phone.
He was helping the person on the phone find a name and date
of a special loved one.
Yesterday, all of us were there for the same reason.
I was honored to have been there.
One Vietnam Soldier
and
One Gulf Storm Soldier
were remembered by their familys.
Sharing Boots, Rifle & Helmet.
Flowers touched the edges of the possessions.
I cried
and whispered,
Thank you.
Sometimes,
It is a blessing to be reminded.
Love you.
