June 12, 2025 ~ The Birthday Gift

 A few weeks ago, Larry and I went to a mineral show at the Plano Center. At the show,  I found a box of uncracked geodes and fell in love with one of them. It was shaped like two bubbles together and weighed 22 pounds. Larry bought it to give to me for my birthday.

I was promptly sent away and the people at the booth where we bought it, chained it up and tried to crack it open. It took awhile they finally succeeded. Larry was there when it was opened, they showed it to a crowd that had gathered. They then taped it closed, and we brought it home. I was not to open it till my birthday.

June 10th is my birthday and after patiently waiting for a month, I opened my geode! It is the most beautiful thing. There were two chambers to the geode. It is filled with smoky quartz in the largest chambers, and amethyst in the smaller chambers.. I will be keeping the two sides together as they are more valuable that way.

It is one of the most unique, beautiful, thoughtful gifts I have ever received.
