Today I am thankful for gumballs.

 The Old Gumball Machine

The origins of gumballs can be traced back to the early 1900s. At that time, chewing gum was becoming increasingly popular in the United States, and manufacturers were looking for ways to make the product more convenient for consumers. In 1906, a man named Frank Fleer invented a type of gum that could be rolled into small balls, which he called "chiclets." This new form of gum was a hit with consumers, and soon other manufacturers began producing similar products.

Photo: Larry's old gumball machine, he has had this since about 1980

Larry threw away the old gumballs from the vintage machine a few weeks ago. They were old and he said that they had turned into Jaw Breakers. (I laughed)

When he threw away all of the old gumballs, he said that he was going to replace them with vintage marbles.

A new collection has been started!

This is one of the first jars of marbles he bought. (last week!)

Photo: I thought that this jar was beautiful

The gum ball machine was popular with our daughters when they were little, and our granddaughter loved to get penny's and buy her "candy". The machine has been neglected for years and that old candy was a hazard to teeth!

The marbles look beautiful in the machine, and it will take Larry awhile to fill it up.

"Flattery is like chewing gum, enjoy it but do not swallow it"

Here is to a happy day.

Love you beyond the moon.
