Unforgettable?

Photo: Outside our hotel room door-Poip'u

I don't know what happened yesterday. It went by in a flash. I painted, exercised, read, chatted with an old high school friend on FaceBook,  cooked dinner for Larry and myself and basically had a very nice day.

Getting back into the rhythm of my every day life has proven to be challenging after such a good vacation away. Larry insists that I take one day at a time and not obsess about it. Easier said than done, right?

We have reservations at a new restaurant tonight. It is a classic, white tablecloth, Asian Restaurant, (red Wallpaper?) with a menu that is quite extensive. They have a few duck items and that makes Larry very happy. They also boast a complete wine and sake menu. It sounds like fun and going somewhere new is always an adventure.

Talking about adventures, did I tell you about when I reached out to an old  high school friend? She did not remember me. There is nothing more humbling than someone not remembering who you are.

Granted. I did go to three high schools. My home life was a nightmare, my father was abusive and there were not many good memories associated with any of the schools I went to.  BUT, there were a few really nice people who allowed me to be part of their group during the time, even if they do not remember me now.

Learning from "the being forgotten" experience has been valuable lesson  to me. There is nothing more of a slap in the face than knowing that you are not that important in this world.

So, here is a toast: To all the amazing high schoolers, who as adults can look back and consider the good old days were the best of their life.

But for me: Today is my best day ever! (so far, but ask me again tomorrow!)

I only wish the old gang the best. I hope that they never know how forgettable they truly are.

Love you beyond the moon.
