A Valentine's Gift-Luna Bean

Photo: Luna Bean-The Valentine gift

For Valentine's Day this year, I gave Larry a Luna Bean kit. He knew what it was, and was excited to give it a try.

Luna Bean is when you make a mold of your hands and then pour a stone material into the mold....

After church he got everything ready and we made the sculpture. It was awesome. Our hands clasped together forever.

Larry made the plastic mold material...and we put our hands in it and had to keep them there for awhile. Then when the pink material turned white  it was time for the hands to come out.....

Our hands came out with a suction feeling but it was amazing! Larry then made what is called the "stone" material.....and poured it into the rubber mold.

After pouring in the stone material, the mold has to sit for hours. When dry, you turn it upside down and the entire thing comes out of the bucket.

I took a video of Larry peeling the rubber material away from the stone. You can find it here:

Now it must dry for about 6 days.....and then he will file down the rough  edges.

It was a wonderful process....and will have the sculpture forever.

There are many applications for this kit but I don't think that we will do it again. Larry loves how his gift turned out!

Love you beyond the moon.
