Moments Shared

Took place at the Church of the Pacific
one quiet Sunday afternoon in August.

We were welcomed by
kumu hula Kehaulani Kekua.
(who was taught traditional hula by her Grandmother,
and shares her knowledge and talent with the
youth of Hawaii)

As we ate luncheon the lawn of the church,
 and enjoyed the afternoon,
young hula dancers entertained us.

The women who worked the event,
made their own hair pieces. They were stunning.
(to raise money to continue the teaching and sharing of
traditional hula, and thankful chants)

We all waited patiently for the celebration
to start.
(the above photo shows why I adore Hawaii)

Then we heard it,
The conch shell was announcing the
start of the ceremony.

Kehaulani Kekua was mistress of the celebration.
Asking us to join her in the love.

The dancers shared traditional hula,
as the chants
expressed love and thanks.

I was in awe.
Such an afternoon took my breath away,
and to soon it was over.
We were wished ALOHA until next year.
But,
this afternoon will live in my heart for a very long time.

*****
I promised these photos yesterday.....
sorry I am a bit late.
ALOHA
Love you.
