Imagine. Warm nights in Toulon,France, sea breezes touching your cheeks, cheese plates, fresh fruits and good wine. The most wonderful of all Southern French experiences.
I had to RUN into Central Market this past weekend. Needing goodies for the picnic on Boxing night. It is then I saw this. My passion for French soap is legendary....and I have not found anything to compare to a brand that has recently stopped shipping to the States. This soap looked lovely. I was in a hurry, dropped 2 bars in my basket and proceeded to the cheese department.
This morning, I decided to open my soap. Looking at the wrapper..oh no.....guess what? The blasted soap was made in GREENSBORO, NC.
I did use it. It is ok, smells nice and is not drying....but. Do you think IF I had continued to think that it was made in France, I would have liked it better? Is that what people who run these companies hope for? That the consumer who buys the soap does not look at the information on the label? Worse yet. This company in North Carolina, has the term South Of France, trademarked! ( I do think that is funny) How on earth can that be trademarked as it is a location and not only soap?
I am going to use my North Carolina/ South of France soap. It was $5.99 a bar.
Truth. Merde. Did they lie to me, or did they trust that I would not read the label?
Caveat emptor!
Love you,
Me
