The Dreams That Days Are Made Of
It is true. I am dressed to go to the DR for yet one more treatment on my nose for chronic nose bleeds.. My Linen dress has a multitude of wrinkles already, and my toes wiggle in the black flats I slipped on. Larry sent me a text message, saying that his meeting in South Texas is almost finished and maybe he will be back in time to go with me to the DR. What world is he living in? How on earth can he make it home in time. But you have to admit. It was a sweet gesture.
Staying focused today is impossible, so I peeked at a few ex-friends web sites, My Space, blogs and Face book accounts. Face book does not let you get very far...and to be honest, I do not care enough about an "EX" anything in my life, to try to reconnect.
So, I found a few old photos and paintings.......
Last November, I was taking a long walk with Larry...along the Seine. We had jay walked behind the Cathedral of Notre Dame and walked toward the Latin Quarter. We do not stay in this arrondissement but stroll and visit often. As we walked, I saw a new shoppe. the window was filled with bundles of wool, and hand painted canvases. Larry, noting the drool on my chin, asked if I would like to go in and browse? You and I both know that browsing would not be involved if I went in that shoppe. I said no thank you...but....might we make a deal? Larry smiled. I asked if he remembered the hand painted canvas I had been working on....well off and on....for "awhile"? He asked, the canvas of Libby? As I nodded, I looked into that amazing Paris window. Yes. If.....IF...I finish the canvas of Libby before we come next November, may I buy any canvas in this shoppe? He smiled. no, he GRINNED. Yes. That was all he said, yes.
I have been working on the Libby canvas. When it is finished I shall buy brocade and make a semi gaudy, amazingly artistic, and memorable pillow for my new leather chair. The canvas is fine grade, many stitches to the inch and rather boring to work on. That is perfect because, while I work, I day dream of the little needlepoint shoppe in Paris. I think that my next canvas will be one covered with the work similar to William Morris.....Oh my fingers itch thinking about it.
Yes, we are booked, flight and apartment. My cousin hopes to join us as she will be in Italy while we are in Paris. Larry's old boss from Alliant Food Service days and his wife hope to come the last weekend while we are there...for a small dinner party that we are hosting, and the brocant (flea market) that is held in our neighborhood that weekend each year.... it will be an exciting holiday...and everything is ready.....but most important is...I am working on the Libby canvas. It is only half finished, but I am motivated to finish before November. Six months...yes, Larry get your Euro ready....Love you beyond the moon.
