A Cavalier Day
Skeins 3 and 4 are almost finished.
The afghan gift is growing.
The men arrived to trim the pecan tree
and take down the old, dying, mulberry tree.
They were not to come till next week.
Larry was unreachable
and I did not have the estimate.
They will be back to grind the stumps
and
will mail me the statement.
When Jami was little, she would climb this tree,
sit on a limb, and read.
As the work men's chainsaw
buzzed through the afternoon
the tree slowly vanished.
It was well after 4, and Larry
made it home to see "the almost stump"
All that is left is the stump.
The new fence can be put up now,
and the deck is to be sandblasted.
I love home improvements.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason. ~Jack Handey~ ******
It is cloudy,
The birds sound louder than usual today.
Perhaps they morn
the old tree.
Love you,
Me
