I am typing in the dark.
It is not really dark, the glow of the laptop screen is assisting me.
Sitting crossed legged on the big bed,
Libby, as always, is snoring next to me.
The binds are open as I wait for the pink light of sunrise to fill my room.
I cannot wait for Tuesday to begin.

After such an amazing weekend away, I believe that I have come home with a brand new outlook.
How did that happen? I was aware of nothing.
Pehraps it was....SEDONA?

During the weekend, Larry and I stole away on a day trip.
We left Scottsdale and headed north to Sedona for the day.
The car trip was as fun as always.
We chat it up, listen to music and gossiped about the happenings on this trip.
When we arrived, we got a  "map" if you want to call it that, from a tourist place.
It is a copy of a hand drawn town of Sedona.
I love it!
The mountains are drawn with their names, it is charming.
We then went to a pizza restaurant, picking up take away.
 {a veggie, gluten-free pizza}
We had a bottle of wine and donuts for dessert.
Sodona was beautiful. I loved it, I loved the people, I loved the picnic,
I loved my time with My Larry.
Sedona will hold a special place in my heart...I would love to go back and hike Cathedral Mountain next year.

Larry came home tired yesterday. He was ragged out to say the least.
His request for dinner, Hot Dogs and Tots.
I thought,Oh my. That is never a good sign.
While I was cooking dinner, he was still answering email,
texts, calls and putting out fires.
Then dinner was ready.
We just sat down to eat when his phone went off again.
I rolled my eyes.
He sighed.
With a tater tot in my mouth I said, go on.
He opened his phone and read not saying a word.
When he finished, he asked, May I read this to you?
It was a note from one of his salesmen
who came on the trip this past weekend.
He is a young man, engaged to the most adorable girl.
Winning the Circle of Excellence was a personal coup for him.
He had written Larry a thank you note.
I am so glad that Larry read that last night.
That one small gesture reminded him why he loves his job.
OR
it could have been SEDONA!
Love you.

There is a slight breeze outside,
and the sun is starting to set.
Since I am alone,
I thought that I would eat donuts
so when I watch
THE BIGGEST LOSER
tonight,
I will get that awful, guilty feeling,
and fast for three days.
(just joking, I have a date for lunch tomorrow!)

Have a lovely evening.
Love you.

The Sprinkles In Our Lives

Happy Sunday. The neighborhood is stirring early, doing things, getting things done before the oppressive heat of the day starts. When it is 105 for almost each day of the month, people get distracted, tempers short and not much gets done.
Last evening, we had to go out into the heat. Larry needed a clock radio for his bedside table. As a bribe, he promised that we would stop and get donuts for dessert( How could I miss that?) Always good to his word, we went to Krispy Kream...and went inside to get our dessert. Secret: Whenever I go inside at Krispy Kream, I feel like a child again. Watching the donuts being made, dozens of flavors to pick from and the smell of sugar in the air.
We brought the donuts home, and ate them (i had 2) in bed as we watched Zab Judah lose a very important boxing march. Donuts in bed, while watching TV. Life is wonderful.
**********

Each Sunday our church gathers food for the food pantry. With Each month a different theme. August being veggie month. One Sunday a month we take something with us to church. Today being green beans and corn. (a case of each)

It is so easy to buy a dozen donuts for ourselves, but forget the people who are struggling with the economy right now. Even families who have working members, cannot buy what they were buying a year ago. Extra foods being one of the first things to vanish from the shopping lists.

***********

I have always loved donuts with sprinkles. It is fun to think that we are the donuts, and the sprinkles are the wonderful , colorful people in our lives.

Thank you for being a colorful sprinkle in my life....never discount what a bit of brightness brings to someone whom you adore. You never know when someone needs a smile.

Stay cool. Love you. Me.

Holiday Hangover

Do you ever have a let-down feeling after a holiday? So many expectations are wrapped up into one day, how can we wake the next day with no left over feelings?
Yesterday was Fathers day. Donuts arrived, gifts wrapped in blue paper, smiles, laughs. It was perfect. But. Today is quiet. The FATHER has gone out of town. Clothes swirl in the washer as I sit here in exercise clothes, trying to talk myself into a 4 mile walk. The thermometer says that it is 75 degrees outside and it is 7:54 AM. HOT already.
I love cleaning up after a party. Larry and I gossip about people, things, done and said.....How lucky are we to have such wonderful friends and family in our lives? Larry and I end up talking about the crazies who are NOT in our life....Goodness, that makes me smile. My fingers itch with temptation to share my thoughts here...but merde....Since I only think of them at random moments, I shall not waste your time nor mine. A Box is a Box is a Box. (forgive me, private joke)
Well....since I have on shorts and a baseball -t-shirt...I might as well get myself out into the heat of this charming Monday Morning.....
...but before I go...*Ingmar. You are such a treasure. Enjoy each moment of your birthday. Larry and I send love and hugs.
Have a happy day....
Love you Lots,
Me
