The Test Kitchen Is Open

For a long time I have looked for the perfect
sugar cookie.
I am not sure if this one is perfect,
but it is very close.

An old cookbook,
dated 1962 from Ft Worth Texas,
was my resource.
There are two sugar cookie recipes in this relic.
I took the simplest one,
added a few things to make it my own,
and
yum.
If you too looked for a good sugar cookie recipe,
you might like to try this one.
***
SUGAR COOKIES
1/2 cup butter
3/4white sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
 Turbinado cane sugar *optional
Half pecans*optional
***
Cream butter and sugar well.
Add egg and beat well.
Add vanilla.
Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture.
Chill two hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Roll dough the size of a walnut.
Flatten slightly in your palms.
Dip in cane sugar.*optional
Press pecan on top.*optional
Place on parchment lined cookie sheet.
Bake 10 minutes.
Makes 2 dozen.
Cane sugar is such a wonderful secret ingredient.

Before cooking,
the cookies look beautiful.

Fresh cookies for dessert tonight....
Love you.
