Dear Anna,
As promised, I wrote as soon as I could. These two weeks have been filled with finding a position that was suitable, and a place to live. How absolutely perfect that both of my goals were fulfilled in one governess job.
Are you well? Has Aunt Elizabeth recovered from her ailments of this past winter? You all have been in my thoughts. I worry about you. With spring coming on, the garden will sustain the family for many months. Has cousin Jack started planting?
My charge is three year old Jane. She is stunningly bright and often misbehaves. My job is cut out for me. There is a park near-by. On the nicest of days we walk there and swing on the swings. My room is in the back of the house, by the kitchen and I am expected to dine with the family each evening. Time alone to write is rare, but I will write when I can.
Anna, you and Aunt Elizabeth have taken such good care of me. My heart hurts when I think about leaving you but you know that it was something I had to do.
I will write again when I am settled into my new job and home. Give the family my respects.
Your cousin,
Sally

Robin, How wonderful! Did you find this in an Antique store or flea market while treasure hunting? How perfect that it has found a new home with you. The author and addressee of this letter are smiling.
