A Leaf

In the Fall, I bring home a Leaf from France. I am not picky, it just has to be the most perfect leaf in the world. Long walks are part of my day. Every day, no matter where I am. In November, while on holiday, the air is crisp and the still beautiful leaves fall silently onto the sidewalk. I always have many subjects to pick from. After the selection process, I carry the annual leaf back home. In this case, a little apartment that we rent in Paris. The leaf is pressed. Like flowers of yesteryear, (did I really say yesteryear?) I press the leaf within pages of a thick book. It is ready to come to Texas. Back home in Texas, a little bird holds my leaf. It is a reminder of the cycle of our year and lives. How absolutely wonderful it is, to live and rejoice in whatever today might bring, knowing that the most beautiful leaf is a symbol of yesterday. My today is filled with busy moments. Yes. The pantry is ready to paint, with all spices and dry goods stored on the dining room table. What a fun, exotic mess! Have an exotic, messy day. A little bird said that it is ok. Love you, Me
