These are the two that Larry and I lit.
Each November when we arrive on holiday,
we go to Notre Dame.
It is always bustling with activity.
We put our Euros in the little box,
and take our candles to a stand near Jesus' Statue.
I always light mine first,
and after Larry's is burning, we stand in the most amazing silence.
None of the noise around us, can be heard
as we whisper prayers for the loved ones in our lives.
This year we had more names than usual.
Deaths, illnesses or just a promise of hope.
Tears make their way down my cheeks as I pray,
Larry and I stand hand in hand.
May you be blessed with all things good this holiday season.
Love you.
Me
*note: Larry and I are not Catholic. In fact we are Presbyterian.
This yearly pilgrimage is about 10 years old,
started by Larry. He believed that prayers are heard always,
but
they are REALLY heard when whispered at
Notre Dame.
I smile,
Amen.
