A new book excites me. Buying a book for a trip does not excite me at all. A huge decision, because I put all of my heart into the one book that will travel with me. Keeping me distracted during a long flight, comforting me when I have jet lag and just enjoying the easiness of having a good book at hand, to pass a bit of time.
Larry buys three used books, reading them like a madman, and then leaving them where ever someone might be apt to pick it up and adopt it. (although I have never seen him adopt a book from anywhere except the Half Price Bookstore)
One week from today is my birthday. Tomorrow (evening) Larry is taking me away for a birthday weekend. I am a bit anxious. Libby has seen the suitcases and is shadowing me, all around the house. I have linens to change, and of course you know that I have that chronic problem with over packing. ( after the embarrassing episode a few years ago at the American Airlines Terminal, Larry now weighs my luggage for me, prior to leaving the house. I would much rather unpack here at home than at the airport, go on. SMILE.) So much to do, so little time. BUT There is a book waiting.
I chose Lisa See's new novel. I was unaware that she had a new book coming out, but when I saw it, with her name on the interesting cover, it was mine. Mine for the weekend away. Yes. I shall confess, that I am on chapter 3. The story is as charming as Snow Flower and the Secret Fan......I am smiling. I have a book for this weekend.
The day is overcast. I wanted to prep/splatter a new canvas, but rain could ruin the effect. It must wait till next week.
Empty suitcases are calling......I send crushing hugs.
Thank you for taking a moment to read about my day.
Love you, bye bye bye,
Me.
