SEW WHAT?
(but it IS Thursday)
There was to be a photo of my gazebo in this spot today. And a blog about sweeping and cleaning the little house, and having dinner there last night, but, I forgot to take a photo. Maybe tomorrow?
Here is today's entry. I bought a sewing kit at the Container Store. It is the sweetest, smallest sewing kit in a wonderful plastic case. For many years, when we travel, I take only a spool of thread (white) and a needle. This is my very first travel sewing kit. The scissors are so tiny, and my confession is, I added 4 extra safety pins. Everyone should have a small sewing kit and a first aid kit. ( OH! I love that spray on Neosporin!! And lets not get started on band aids)

Last Saturday I was at a luncheon. The food was amazing, the program perfection and company best of all. There was a silent auction of about 50 items, including many beautiful baskets.(the benefits supporting local Veterans) Something caught my eye. Plates. Two hand painted plates with pewter rims. They were lovely. I looked at the bid sheet. $25.00. hummm. I bid $50. I saw a lady swagger up to the auction sheet moments later. The bid became $75. Ok, ok. I could not help myself....I bid $100. It went back and forth like this during lunch, and after lunch I made my final bid of $200. I liked the plates so very much. The organizers of the event announced that bidding would last 5 more minutes. "Swagger Lady" ( the only person bidding against me) walked up and bid $225.(I swear she sneered at me, but maybe not) The plates were hers. Having grown up going to auctions, I always limit myself and respect the price I make as my limit. Guess what? A woman Just called....the treasurer of the event. Leaving a message on my machine, she informed me that "Swagger Lady" had scratched her name off where she had the highest bid and IF I wanted the plates, they are mine. Amazing.
I love Thursdays.....
Smile often, you never know who is watching you.
Love you.
