The Test Kitchen Is Open

We had planned a picnic after the Opera on Sunday.
{weather permitting}
The weather was beautiful, so I made sandwiches,
deviled eggs and spice bars.
This recipe is easy and produces a perfect fall treat.

FROSTING
1 container (1 LB) Betty Crocker Creamy
Cream cheese frosting
1/2 cup walnuts (if desired)
***
 Heat oven to 350
Lightly grease 15X10X1 inch pan with shortening
In large bowl, beat all bar ingredients with electric mixer
Beat low for 30 secs
Beat med for 2 minutes
Scrap bowl, spread into prepared pan
Bake 20-25 minutes till light brown
cool completely for about 2 hours
Spread frosting over bars, sprinkle with walnuts

This is much like the old Spanish Bar cake the A&P sold years ago....
only better.
